Filstorage celebrates 30th anniversary with 30 charitable acts
Filstorage, the East Yorkshire storage specialist, has completed 30 charitable acts over 12 months to celebrate 30 years in business.
The year-long celebration, which finished at the end of May, has seen Eastrington-based Filstorage sponsor a host of local sporting teams, take part in a charity walks, and host their own events. The activities concluded with the business sponsoring the Music in the Park event at Spaldington, held in aid of Cure Parkinson’s, which included a performance from Flo Taylor, daughter of Filstorage Directors Paul and Alison Taylor.
The company also donated a range of storage and handling equipment to Hull community hub/food bank HU4 Community Trust to help them to organise their storerooms more effectively.
The idea for the wide-ranging campaign came about after Filstorage employees couldn’t agree on a single charity to support across the year to mark the business’s 30th anniversary. So instead, they decided to complete 30 different acts of kindness, charity and support over the year to help as many organisations as possible.
Beneficiaries include Goole Rugby Club, Pocklington Rugby Club, Hessle Theatre Group, Howden Rotary Club, the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institute, Leukaemia Care and Research, Hull and East Yorkshire MIND, Dementia UK and more than 20 other clubs and organisations.
Marketing Manager Tom Catchpole commented: “Being based in a rural community, we’ve always been a charitable business that has wanted to support the local area as much as possible. As a result, every year we’ve chosen a few local charities or organisations to support and done what we could for them but with the 30th anniversary, we wanted to do more than that and we were looking to nominate a charity of the year which we could do 12 months’ of fundraising for.
“We couldn’t agree on who it should be, so it was decided rather than simply supporting one organisation, we should increase the support we provide to local causes. In the end it was the best decision. It meant we have had a fantastic year doing some really fun things, at the same time as building on our long-standing ethos of championing our local community.”
One charity Filstorage helped during the year is SHakE of Howden, which stands for Support, Help and Kind Endeavours. SHaKE is closely affiliated with the Rotary Club of Howden and functions as a conduit for charitable efforts by managing and allocating donations to support various causes. Filstorage provided the organisation with a range of storage boxes for free, to help with their storage requirements.
Sophie Ross-Briggs, one of the Founders of SHaKE said: “The donation will provide SHaKE with a practical solution for storing clothes to support our clothing exchange as well as general storage for equipment and food for our cinema events. We thank Filstorage for this donation.”
Tom Catchpole added: “SHaKE is an invaluable community asset and their volunteers go above and beyond to help families and those in need, which has become more prevalent during the current cost of living crisis. We are very proud to support such an organisation and hope that our donation will help assist SHaKE with their operations.”
