Racking specialist, Filplastic has delivered a £75k contract to help growing merchant, JTD Building Supplies establishing a new base.

JTD moved from its original location in Meltham near Huddersfield to Brockholes near Homfirth in July this year, after extensive design and fit out work carried out by Filplastic.

The regional business saw off competition to win the contract in a competitive tendering process.

Filplastic designed and fitted out the trade counter, shop warehouse and yard, supplying display plinths and shelving, and pallet, cantilever and pigeon hole racking as part of the contract.

JTD Building Supplies was established in 2011 in an industrial unit, and soon established itself as a supplier to local builders and trades people.

Tony Sharkey, managing director of JTD, said: “We began to grow quite quickly. So, although the unit we were in was a great place to start, it soon began to feel a bit tight for our requirements.

“Also, we were hampered by the lack of a yard, so we decided last year it was time to find somewhere new.

“The site at Brockholes is totally different. It is two acres with a roadside location, an 11, 000 sq ft shed, warehouse and big yard. It is a fantastic place to move to.”

Tony added he had been impressed with Filplastic from the moment they contacted the company, adding: “Filplastic are very well known in the industry so they were an obvious choice to quote for the work.

“From the start they really impressed us with their design ideas and the way they approached the job. Everything has been designed from scratch and with Filplastic’s help, I think we got everything right.”

Gary Winter, Filplastic business development manager for the north, managed the job. He concluded: “It has been a pleasure to work with Tony and his team to help JTD Building Supplies relocate so they can grow their business.

“We always love to work with dynamic and ambitious merchants and JTD have proved to be just that. We wish them all the best in their fantastic new home.”
